Adoption requirements
Deciding to adopt a pet is an exciting time for many families. We would like to make this process as simple as possible. Here are a few things to keep in mind before you come in to find your new family member.
You must be 18 years or older to adopt.
We ask that you discuss adopting with all adults in the home.
We reserve the right to review all applications before an animal is adopted. If an animal has had multiple applications submitted, we may need additional time to review all applications.
In order to find the perfect match, we will not hold an animal for you, nor will we adopt out the animal on a first come, first served basis.
In some instances, adoptions may occur the same day the application is submitted (in person) and you are a match for the animal.
What to bring to your adoption appointment
If planning to adopt a dog please bring a leash and collar. If you do not have one, we may be able to provide one for you.
If planning to adopt a cat please bring a carrier.
A current photo ID and method of payment. We accept cash, checks, debit and credit cards.
If you have another dog at your home and are applying to adopt another dog, we may ask that you bring your dog in for a meet and greet. This meet and greet will likely be at a separate appointment. We do not advise that you bring your dog in for a meet and greet until it has been arranged with shelter staff.
If you have a dog at home and you are applying to adopt a cat, you will not be asked to bring your dog in for a meet and greet.
